Merrepen Arts is a remote community art centre in Nauiyu (Daly River), 220 km south of Darwin. In addition to painting and weaving the centre is famous for its iconic textile designs that have been featured in fashion, interior design, public projects and publications. Merrpen Arts have more than 40 designs by 12 textile artists. The team prints onsite and also has screens with Publisher Textiles and PrintInk.
This year has been one of highs and lows as they celebrate their 40th birthday but, in March, experienced a devastating flood that displaced the community and destroyed the print workshop.
Over the years they have worked in close partnership with Darwin based makers/designers who treat our fabrics with love and respect and through their creations bring Merrpen's designs to a wider audience.
This collection is Merrepen Arts in collaboration with Albertini Designs, Black Cat Couture and Jo Dunne (Raw Cloth).
